Though I didn’t sample their coffee during this visit (the weather called for something cooler!), their reputation for exceptional brews precedes them.

Located in Sitio Lupa, Brgy. Calumpang, Naval, Biliran, Lub Dub Cafe is about two kilometers from downtown Naval.

Lub Dub is quite far from the center and you have to intentionally go there which reminds me of the tucked-away cafes in Europe or the quiet retreats you find along scenic routes in the United States.

You can reach the cafe from two main routes, depending on your starting point:

• From Downtown Naval or Little Baguio: Take the Calumpang route, which is shorter and straightforward.
• From Caray-caray Area or Biliran Bridge: The route near Citi Hardware Naval is closer.

Transportation Options

Getting to Lub Dub Cafe is convenient with several options:

• Motorcabs
• Habal-habal (motorcycle taxis)
• Personal vehicles

During our visit, I decided to leave the ordering to my wife, and I ended up trying a refreshing passionfruit drink, which turned out to be a great choice given the heat.

While I didn’t try their coffee due to the warm weather, the aroma of the roasted beans displayed at the counter made it clear they take pride in their coffee.
