While Biliran Island itself is a hidden gem, Dalutan Island is another jewel within the province waiting to be discovered.
Dalutan is famous for its seclusion, where only a handful of people usually get there, so there’s a good chance you can enjoy the island all by yourself.
I was here 20 years ago on a sunny, high-tide beach, but this time, it was the exact opposite!
Top Reasons to Visit Dalutan Island

How to Reach Dalutan Island
Where is Dalutan Island?
Dalutan Island lies approximately 2 kilometers (1.28 miles) off the coast of Biliran’s mainland.
Its location is nearest to Talahid Beach Resort and Agta Beach Resort, making it an accessible yet tranquil getaway.

Transportation Options
Hiring Pump Boats
You can hire pump boats (lantsa) to Dalutan Island from various points on the mainland. The most convenient and cost-effective departure points are from Talahid Beach Resort and Agta Beach Resort.
Pump boat fares vary, but the most affordable round trip costs Php 1,200 by this boat, as shown in the image below.
I heard they offer the best rates, so look for the white-hulled boat named “Our Lady of Fatima” at Talahid Beach Resort.

Journey to the Island
Our adventure began at Talahid Beach Resort, where we rendezvoused with friends before boarding the pump boat at around 1:39 pm.
We docked at the Dalutan Beach at about 1:54 pm- a 17-minute trip.
The journey was smooth, and the anticipation of exploring the island kept me excited despite our late noon arrival.
Exploring Dalutan Island
The White Beach Experience
Dalutan Island’s white beach is a unique feature that sets it apart from the mainland.
Spanning approximately 200 meters, the cascading sloping beach is a mix of sand and dominated by coral pebbles. Walking along gives you a foot massage!
It offers a tranquil spot to relax, soak up the sun, or enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding waters.

Low Tide Adventures
The beach transforms into a gateway to Dalutan’s underwater world during low tide.
With waist to chest-deep waters, the corals become easily accessible, making it an ideal time for snorkeling and marine exploration.
The vibrant ecosystem of fishes, corals, and sea urchins provides an unforgettable experience for those equipped with snorkeling gear or waterproof cameras.
On the rocky side, you can look for seashells and shellfish that are perfect for your dinner soup back home.
High Tide Possibilities
At high tide, the sloping beach creates the perfect conditions for swimming and diving.
The deeper waters are inviting for those who love to float or swim, providing a refreshing escape from the heat.
Facilities
Cottages and Amenities
Pricing and Entrance
Dalutan Island offers two cottage options to suit different group sizes and budgets. Smaller cottages cost around Php 400, while larger ones can cost up to Php 600.
Entrance fees for adults are P40.00, and for minors are P20.00.
Like most tourist attractions in Biliran island, there’s a logbook that visitors need to fill out.
I don’t remember the rent and fees 20 years ago since we were invited by our cousins back then. Besides, beaches and islands weren’t as much of a thing as they are nowadays.

Overnight Stay Options
For those who wish to extend their stay, overnight accommodations are available with different fee tiers.
Staying overnight allows travelers to fully experience the island’s tranquility, especially under the starry night sky.
There’s no electricity on the island, so you better pack a lot of power banks and batteries.

You will also appreciate the stunning beauty of Mt. Panamao as seen from Dalutan.
Avoid visiting during the rainy season, as rough seas and unpredictable weather may limit your experience.
